How do I find Nene Valley Microlight ?

By Air
Sackville Farm Airfield is on both the 1:500 000 and 1:250 000 air charts. The strip co-ordinates are: N52 15.85 W000 29.08

By Road
Sackville Farm Airfield is near the village of Riseley in Bedfordshire, 5 miles south east of Rushden on the Beds/Northants border. From the A6 head towards Riseley Village, signposted Riseley Road. Once in the village, continue along the High Street passing the Fox & Hounds pub on your right.

Eventually you will come to a School on your right and a garage on your left. Just after the garage you will see a tree lined private road with a gate house.

Turn left in here and follow the road along until you see a sign on the left (approx 1/3 mile) marked "Wilkinsons". Turn here and follow the track along past the house called Sackville Lodge and through the farmyard. After a short distance you will see the airfield on your left.

Who runs Nene Valley Microlights ?

Nene Valley Microlights is run by Bob and Sue McMaster, both of whom have considerable professional aviation experience.

Bob holds a Civil Aviation Authority Flight Instructor's rating and is also an examiner. He has worked in many aviation businesses, and spent five years with British Aerospace as an aircraft designer.

Sue comes from the Ministry of Defence's Royal Aircraft Establishment, where her varied experience include wind tunnel testing a whole range of aircraft.

To assist Bob as Chief Flying Instructor, the school has three further instructors, David D’Ath, Neill Howarth and Tim Wilkinson, from whose airfield Nene Valley Microlights operates.

David was first bitten by the flying bug when he started PPL training on Austers in the 1960’s. He has a wealth of flying experience on a whole range of aircraft. Holding a QFI rating, he has a natural ability to not only provide first class flight training, but to make this process fun and enjoyable.

Dave D'Ath

David is a very experienced Aviator and is a Qualified Flying Instructor.

Neill started flying microlights in the 1980’s and has amassed hundreds of flying hours on a broad spectrum of flexwings. He holds a QFI rating and can appreciate your training needs whether your intentions are to fly a classic trike or the latest hot ship.

Tim is a commercial pilot, holding an Airline Transport Pilots Licence and instructs on Fixed wing (3 Axis) aircraft. He is addicted to the air, and when not flying microlights, Tim captains an airliner running a scheduled passenger service from London to Edinburgh!
